Despina Metakos

Despina Metakos is a Senior Program Representative at Electric Boat.   After spending nearly 24 years working at the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (16 years as a Project Manager in Traffic Engineering and 8 years as a Highway Safety Program Coordinator responsible for 7 statewide programs), Despina knows that successful projects are built on the foundations of quality and integrity and has brought those principles and experiences to Electric Boat.

Despina was nominated for an EMMY® Award in 2014 for her work writing, producing and directing an impaired riding public service announcement for the Rhode Island Motorcycle Safety Program; while she appreciates the nomination, she wishes she would have won!
Despina met and married Chief Petty Officer (Ret) Cody Harris in 2009 and watched, many times, as her heart floated out to sea and came home safely on submarines Electric Boat built.  She proudly joined Electric Boat in January, 2016 and the highlight of her career was being asked by Vice President Ken Blomstedt to join the Supplier Quality Briefing Team earlier this year and she is incredibly proud to have
received that honor.

She holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and believes that the ability to “drink from the firehose” should be listed as a “Key Competency” on all EB job descriptions.
